Most recently, I have had the honor to perform two weddings at the Chapel at the Mississauga City Hall. Both were very different in size and ceremony style. One was performed with 5 folks in attendance and the other a full house of 30 or so guests. Both were outstanding and had moments of laughter and joy.
So, what are the benefits of a “Civil Wedding at City Hall”?

- Convenient Location: The City Hall Chapel is conveniently located within the Mississauga Civic Centre. It’s easily accessible for both the couple and their guests.
- Professional Officiants: The City Clerk’s Office arranges experienced wedding officiants for civil ceremonies or allows the couple to choose their own. These officiants ensure that your marriage is legally recognized while maintaining a respectful and warm atmosphere.
- Documentation Assistance: The City provides guidance on the necessary documentation, including a valid Ontario Marriage License number and the place of purchase.
- Ideal for Couples Planning a Destination Wedding: You can have your marriage legalized prior to the actual celebration and have a loved one perform the ceremony at the destination.
Although casual, the City Hall Wedding is practical and quick. As stated earlier you can also hire your own officiant if you wish. In the case of the Mississauga Chapel, there are also quite a few restaurant choices in the area for a reception following the Ceremony. If you book the chapel for the weekend, please be sure to have security clearance to enter the floor and facility.
