Most recently I had the honour of officiating a beautiful wedding at the Royal Venetian Mansion in Aurora.
The Wedding Planning included a Couples Website powered by “The Knot” that was created early in the year for friends and family to track the progress of the Wedding plans. Throughout the planning process, the couple had continual communication with me as they booked the venue, attained their wedding license and confirmed the date for their rehearsal. The Wedding Rehearsal was held at the venue a few days prior to the wedding to “walk through” the Ceremony Details, which included the assistance of the event coordinator at the Royal Venetian Mansion and the Wedding Party, which featured two Maids of Honour.
The Ceremony began with the Wedding Party Processional walking into two wonderful songs, “If You Love Her” by Forest Blakk and “Tenerife Sea” by Hearts and Colours. The Ceremony began with a Candle Light Dedication to family and friends who were unable to attend the ceremony. Highlighted below are the final two sentences written by the Bride and Groom::
“May this flame serve as a reminder that, although they are not here with us physically, their presence is felt, and they are forever a part of this joyous occasion.
Their light shines on in our lives, and their love remains an unbreakable bond that connects us all."
It was a really touching moment!
The Ceremony continued with the Couple holding hands throughout with two readings including The Prayer of Francis of Assissi and The Bridge Across Forever by Richard Bach. The ceremony moved along nicely with the exchange of Vows and Rings. The service concluded with the signing of the wedding document featuring a wonderful version of Simply The Best by Sydney then, the Bride and Groom, along with their wedding party, walked out to another great song, “September” by Earth Wind and Fire.
Photos and a Lovely Reception followed at the venue.
Planning a Formal Wedding? Here are the 10 things you should consider:
- Attire: Guests and the wedding party typically dress in elegant, sophisticated attire. For men, this may mean tuxedos or formal suits, while women often wear long gowns or cocktail dresses.
- Venue: Held in upscale venues such as grand ballrooms, historic mansions, or luxury hotels. These locations often require advance booking and may have strict rules.
- Invitations: Invitations are elaborate, printed on high-quality paper, and include detailed information about the event. RSVPs are expected.
- Ceremony Style: Follows traditional customs with a structured order of events. There may be religious or cultural rituals. Customized ceremonies are still important.
- Decor and Flowers: Lavish floral arrangements, elegant centrepieces, and ornate decorations are common.
- Food and Drinks: Multi-course plated meals or gourmet buffets. Champagne and fine wines are served.
- Entertainment: Live bands, string quartets, or professional DJs provide music. Dancing is a focal point.
- Seating Arrangements: Assigned seating with place cards. Seating charts are meticulously planned.
- Photography and Videography: Professional photographers capture every moment. There’s a focus on posed shots.
- Overall Atmosphere: Elegance, sophistication, and adherence to tradition.
As with all weddings, Formal Weddings are elegant, romantic and intimate yet usually require additional planning ahead of time. It is essential to give yourself enough time to look into all suitable venues, caterers and professional support, as they are key to a wonderful event.
