Randy spent his first career in front of rooms. From 1986 to 2002, he worked as a sales and marketing executive across Canada. From 2002 to 2018, he ran his own marketing company. Through all of it, he hosted corporate events, MC'd community functions, and taught and coached people whose work depended on standing up in front of others.
Then his son asked him to officiate his wedding. It was 2015. Randy expected the ceremony to feel familiar, an extension of all the speaking he had done before. It did not. Standing in front of two people he loved and helping them put their commitment into words turned out to be unlike anything else he had done. That first ceremony rearranged how he thought about his work.
He spent the next several years officiating on the side while the marketing company wound down. In October 2022, he completed his pastoral licence with Be In Christ Church of Canada. On February 13, 2023, his Ontario Marriage Act registration came through, and the practice he had been building part-time became his full-time work.
Today, Randy serves couples and families across Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Brampton, Toronto, Etobicoke, Milton, and the wider central GTA. He keeps his calendar deliberately small. Every ceremony is written from scratch and sent to the couple or family for approval before the day. He also serves as a Sunday School and KidMax teacher at The Waypoint Church in Oakville and continues a lifetime of community fundraising work for Toronto Food, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Walls of Hope, and Sick Kids Hospital.
What people sometimes call retirement, Randy calls the next chapter. This is more community service than business, and it gives him a real purpose. The work happens at weddings, but it also happens at celebrations of life, at funeral services, in pastoral conversations, and in the quiet hours of writing each ceremony for the people who will hear it.
